I drew out my idea when i was up north over the long weekend and coloured it up when I got home. The hipster imagines
himself still cool in his old age and the old fellow remembers/imagines? his youth, over a bag of chips.

I changed this up a bit and used it as a birthday card. Sorry Buddy and Happy Birthday!. He really is in much better shape than this.

That's terrific and very witty - great take on the theme! Nicely done!!

I love the truth of your interpretation, and the little details are perfect...the old guy's age spot on his head, his plaid trousers, the young guy's ink and pierced nose and t-shirt...just great. I thoroughly enjoy looking through your blog. I really like the variety of illustrations you've chosen to share...wonderful stuff!!

What a great spin on the theme "Aging" and your illustrative style is engaging. It reminded me of Shag's works only with your own spin and twist to it.

That is meant to be a compliment!

You managed to get a lot of commentary in one illustration! Vanity, expectations, hopes... and more. Your sketches are inspiring-- The life guard stand in CA took me back to my teen years... And I love the sketches of the wait staff at Tim Hortons..... Good eye.

Thanks so much for the responses folks!
carla- thanks for taking the time to check out the blog.
sultry painterwoman-I'm glad you liked the sketches
and particularly the LA one [from a native LAer] since it was my first time there and I loved it.
Guy- Thanks man, stll lots of work to do before you can lounge around on a park bench so get crakin!

Mr. Drazen, I bow before you. This entry, the whole blog, was an incredible treat to peruse. And for some odd reason, after looking at everything here, the image that sticks out is the one of 'young rachel gearing up for some kneeboarding'. Beautiful work. I'm gonna venture out on a limb and guess you're a fellow Canuck. The locations mentioned – and your link to the incomparable Hilarious House Of Frightenstein – kinda give it away. Any fan of that show is a friend of mine.

Excellent site.

cool idea! I love your illustration style. All the textures and patterns really get me going. And, cool lettering too.

A great illo. It's really quite sweet too. I like that they're sharing a moment (and maybe some raisons?) Your work is always so very impressive. The details and character just rule.

Jeope- Billy Van Rules!! haha..a Frightenstein dvd is long overdue tho I understand the master tapes are lost. Collecting what they have would be awesome tho. I'm proud to call you friend as well and thanks for the excellent comment and enjoying the blog. Yup, I'm in Toranto Ontariariario.

Alisa- Thanks. The lettering I believe is the School House Rock font and a Fink font tho I can't say more that a couple of minutes thought was put into it. The card was for an artist buddy in Montreal. I enjoyed your site as well.

paige- thanks!I was going for a bit of sweetness.

Sharin a snack
Twixt a wrinkled ole sack
And fellas all donned up in ink
The turning of page
Such passing of age
Makes myself stop to think

Lovely work

(btw, I want a shirt like the tat-man)
