I watched CARNIVAL OF SINNERS last night, a atmospheric Faustian tale about a painter who sells his soul (and hand) to you know who in a bowler hat. The hand and gallery of previous owners were particularly great as they tell their stories with expressionistic, theatrical flashbacks. Directed by Maurice Tourneur, pa of Jacques who directed lots of great films like CURSE OF THE DEMON and CAT PEOPLE.
